Travels Near & Far

Travelling To Crete.

So I always had the wanderlust in my blood but I never had the chance, means or someone to travel with but then I met the man of my dreams and this is where the happily ever after started. This was the beginning of my greatest adventure. It all started in Crete.  We went on honeymoon here and you can see by the photos why we got the travel bug, it is so beautiful here.  It was everything I ever dreamed it would be.

Crete
We traveled with Dawson & Sanderson who booked us to stay at the Vergina Apartments (they weren’t the last word in luxury but we did not spend much time here)
Don’t get me wrong the family-run business had the cutest family dynamic they were an old fashioned family which added to the charm of the apartments (what they lacked in facilities they made up for in-service)

Heraklion Heraklion
We found we were staying on the main road in Anissaras which was a short bus ride to Hersonissos, this is where we spent most nights in the restaurants and bars and even got matching marriage date henna tattoos (yes sloppy I know but we were on honeymoon)

We spent most days walking down an old dusty winding road the hotel owner showed us we walked down this path and all we knew was at the end of it was the Aegean Sea.  We set off walking with our backpack and water bottle after about 20 mins we came across the end of the road and as we turned the corner there it was the most beautiful view of the Aegean Sea and a long white sand and greenest sea I have ever seen.

Heraklion Crete
The icing on the cake was it had all of the amenities we could possibly need a little shop for refreshments and snacks and the loveliest café which served the best breakfast we could ask for.  We would spend all day at the beach relaxing, swimming and just enjoying the break away from the real world (not that the real world was bad) it just was not as warm as it was there.
We decided to have a break from the beach during the week and hopped on the local bus line to Heraklion.

I did not know what to expect when we arrived but as before it was amazing, we visited a fort on the marina it even had wild cats living in it they were so cute.
This was the start of our love affair with traveling and we have so many more stories from this and many more places we have been to tell you.

Have a look around our blog for more travel tales.

Thanks for reading.
